Jane Nielsen
Program Assistant
509.777.4532
jnielsen@whitworth.edu
Spokane, Wash., has been Jane's home all of her life. Influenced by growing up in a loving, Christian home, Jane knew soon after high school that God was leading her into service as a support staff person. She's been true to God's calling and has been working in the field for 36 years. Jane has worked in student life at Whitworth for 18 years and has immensely enjoyed her relationships with students and staff. Before Whitworth, though, she worked in the insurance industry which prepared her to help students who have insurance needs. Jane is very proud to have three Whitworth graduates in her family. In her spare time, she enjoys quilting, teaching music, her grandchildren, and time at her cabin with her husband, Terry, and her family. |

Alan Jacob
Assistant Director of Housing
509.777.3250
ajacob@whitworth.edu
After convincing his wife, Jen, to move thousands of miles across the country to a city she'd never been, Alan accepted the position of Assistant Director of Housing in July 2004. Previously, Alan worked as a Resident Director for Geneva College for five years where he also completed his M.A. in Higher Education. Alan's undergraduate degree in psychology from Messiah College has come in handy throughout his years working in higher education. When not in the office, you'll more than likely find Alan tearing through the woods on his mountain bike or dodging cars on his road bike. He also likes to swim, cook with his wife, and watch foreign films. |

Josh Cleveland
Resident Director, Arend
jcleveland01@whitworth.edu
Josh is originally from Bellevue, Wash., and graduated from Whitworth with a theology degree in 2001. He then moved to Austin, Texas, and served for three years as a high-school and college-ministry intern at a Presbyterian church. He then attended Princeton Theological Seminary and earned his Master of Divinity degree in 2007, and senses a call to long-term ministry. Josh joined the residence life staff at the beginning of the 2007-08 academic year and feels at home in Arend Hall (where he lived as an undergraduate for three years). Josh loves live music, well-brewed cups of coffee, road trips, photography, and getting to know the amazing women and men of Whitworth University.

April McGonigal
Resident Director, Duvall
amcgonigal@whitworth.edu
April was raised in Bend, Ore., and after high school attended
Whitworth. There she earned a degree in speech communications.
After graduation, she married and moved to California for a year
where she and her husband worked at a Christian camp teaching outdoor
education to sixth-graders. Then, moving across the country to Beaver
Falls, Penn., she pursued a Master's of the Arts in Higher Education
from Geneva College. After completing the program she returned to
Spokane to serve as a Resident Director. April is thrilled to be
back again on the west coast (and closer to family and friends)
where Whitworth feels like home. April sees her outstanding undergraduate
experience as fostering her desire to continue to work with students
to this day. |
