Puget Sound Series Moved to Lewiston
Feb.28, 2008

SPOKANE, Wash. - Several inches of snow on Merkel Field have forced Whitworth University to move its Northwest Conference baseball series with the University of Puget Sound to Lewiston, Idaho. Saturday's doubleheader (two nine inning games) will be played at Harris Field on the campus of Lewis-Clark State College and begin at 1:30 p.m. Sunday's doubleheader (two seven inning games) will begin at 11:00 a.m. and will be played at Church Field (address below).

It is the first NWC series of the season for both the Pirates (1-5) and the Loggers (2-1). Whitworth has played all six games of its 2008 season in Lewiston. After the season-opening series at College of Idaho was cancelled, the two teams made hasty arrangements to play a tournament at LCSC, where the Pirates went 1-3. Two week's ago Whitworth played a pair of games at LCSC, one against the host Warriors and one against NAIA Mayville State.

UPS played three games in McMinnville, Oregon last weekend, losing to host Linfield, but defeating Whitman and Concordia.

Lewis-Clark State College is located at 500 8th Avenue, Lewiston, ID 83501. Church Field is located at 1350 Bryden Ave., Lewiston, Idaho 83501.

With up to ten inches of snow still on Merkel Field and the current melting rate, there is a chance that the March 15-16 series against Pacific University will have to be played off campus as well.
