SPOKANE, Wash. - Whitworth's home baseball series with Linfield has been postponed until May 2-3, due to wintry weather conditions expected throughout the region this weekend.

While Whitworth's Merkel Field continues to lie beneath a blanket of snow and ice, efforts were made to secure an off-site facility somewhere else in eastern Washington or Lewiston, Idaho. Those efforts have not been successful.

Northwest Conference Commissioner Matt Newman approved the schedule change on Thursday morning.

"In the best interests of playing these games, which may have a bearing on the conference title, we are rescheduling the weekend to accomplish that goal," said Scott McQuilkin, Whitworth's Director of Athletics.
