SPOKANE, Wash. - Whitworth University has several players participating in summer developmental baseball leagues throughout the west. The Pirate coaching staff worked hard to secure spots for its players in collegiate leagues over the off-season. "The summer is an important time for a player to continue developing his skills," said Whitworth head coach Dan Ramsay. "Our players will compete in a number of different leagues this year." Three players are participating in the Boise Summer League. JR Jarrell (So., 1B, Brewster, Wash.) will play for the Owls, Mitch Nelson (Sr., OF, Wenatchee, Wash.) will play for the Rattlers, and Marlowe Peter (Fr., C, Boise, Idaho) will play for the Outlaws. Ryan Reitmeier (Sr., RHP, Medical Lake, Wash.) and Chris Bartenhagen (Sr., C, Gilbert, Ariz.) are both playing for the Reds in the Arizona Collegiate League. Andrew Durant (So., IF, Spokane, Wash.) will play for the Stars of the West Coast League - Portland. He is joined in Portland by Liam O’Brien (Jr., LHP, Prosser, Wash.) and Tom Banta (So., RHP, Lake Oswego, Ore.) on the Lobos. |
