Second Such Honor of His Career
SPOKANE, Wash. - For the second time in his career, Whitworth University outfielder Dan Belet has been recognized by regional college sports information directors for excellence on the field and in the classroom and has been named to the 2010 ESPN The Magazine CoSIDA Academic All-District VIII College Division baseball team. The Academic All-District VIII teams are selected from NCAA Division II, Division III and NAIA players throughout the western United States. The players are nominated and selected by members of CoSIDA. To be eligible for nomination, a player must be a starter or important reserve with a 3.30 cumulative grade point average and of sophomore standing. Belet (Sr., Missoula, Montana - Hellgate) is an engineering physics major with a grade point average of 3.97. This season he started 38 games and batted .322. He posted career highs for hits (47), runs batted in (24) and stolen bases (12). Belet was a three-year starter in the outfield for the Pirates. He had also been chosen for the same award as a sophomore in 2008. Belet is now eligible to be selected to the ESPN The Magazine CoSIDA Academic All-America college division team. |
