Scott Officially Wins NWC Batting Title

SPOKANE, Wash. - Whitworth University third baseman Landon Scott has been named Second Team All-West Region by the American Baseball Coaches Association. In addition, following completion of NCAA post-season play, Scott is officially the Northwest Conference batting champion for 2010.

Scott's (So., Kennewick, Wash. - Kennewick) batting average of .465 this season led the NWC, following completion of Linfield's participation in the NCAA tournament. His 2010 batting average is the second highest in school history, behind only Ryan Clements' average of .479 in 1987. Scott led the team in at-bats (159), hits (74), doubles (12), runs scored (40) and runs driven in (40), slugging average (.667) and on-base percentage (.506). He was named Northwest Conference baseball Student-Athlete of the Week on April 13th and on May 5th and was also selected as a First Team All-NWC honoree following the season.

Scott is Whitworth's first ABCA All-Region honoree since moving to NCAA Division III membership in 1999.
