WHITTIER, Calif. -- Whitworth completed a perfect cross-country road trip on Sunday with an 83-30 win over Caltech in the Caltech/Whittier Thanksgiving Classic.

With all five regular starters resting on the bench and not playing a minute, Whitworth's reserves dominated play against the Beavers. Point guard Jerry Beverly made 7 of 13 shots, including 4 of 8 from three point range, to score 18 points. He had eight steals and four assists as well. Freshman post Opada Opada made 8 of 12 shots to score 19 points. Nate Montgomery chipped in 10 points.

As a team the Pirates made 55.6% of their shots and limited Caltech to only 28.1% shooting from the field. Whitworth outrebounded the Beavers 35-19 and forced 36 turnovers with 27 steals.

Paxon Frady and Chris Yu lead Caltech with five points each.

Off to their best start since the 2002-03 season, the Pirates are 6-0 after traveling more than 9,000 miles across the country.
