GAME
1 James Jones scored 16 to lead the Pirates (4-0), while Ryan Symes added 13 and post Kevin Hasenfus tallied a double double with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Jon Young scored 11 and Colin Willemsen scored his ten points off of the bench, all in the first half. Point guard Bryan Williams had eight assists. Deshion Innis led the Kingsmen (2-1) with 12 points and five assists. Freshman forward Andrew Meier chipped in with 11 points and center Zach Miller added eight points and five rebounds. The teams traded first half leads before the Pirates used a 13-2 run on each side of halftime to open a 45-30 advantage early in the second period. But CLU fought back to within 59-54 with five minutes to play on a three pointer by Rocky Pedden. However the Kingsmen would only score one point the rest of the way and Whitworth hit back to back lay ups to regain control. Whitworth has finished its games at the tournament and will head to Southern California for games against Whittier (Saturday) and Caltech (Sunday) this weekend. Cal Lutheran will play Lewis & Clark (Ore.) on Friday's first game of the classic. GAME
2 The Pioneers (3-1) made 9 of 14 first half three pointers, led by Mark Robinowitz, who came off of the bench for five of those treys. Jeff Christensen also made a pair of three pointers as L&C steadily pulled away from the Vikings (1-3). L&C led by as many as 26 points (64-38) with 13:50 left to play. But Bethany Lutheran did manage to get within 15 points (81-66) with 4:34 to go in the game. Pioneer point guard Thomas Tillery penetrated for seveal layups in the game, finishing 8 of 8 from the field and 6 of 9 from the line for a game-high 22 points. He also led the squad with eight rebounds. Robinowitz finished with 20 points, while David Berggren and Joey Taboni scored 12 apiece. Ross Libby came off of the bench to lead BLC with 18 points. Alfonso Mayfield scored 11 and Travis Priem added 10 in a reserve roll. Amun Bordain led the Vikings with eight rebounds. Both teams will play again on Friday in the classic's final day. L&C will take on Cal Lutheran at 10:00 am, while Bethany Lutheran battles Concordia (Calif.) at 3:00 pm. GAME
3 Four Eagles scored in double figures, led by Kyle Huggett's 15 points off of the bench. Terrence Worth added 13 points and four steals, while Adam Greenway tallied 11 points. Joe Roberson scored 10 points. George Fox's Phil Heu-Weller led all players with 23 points, while Chris Parker scored 12 for the Bruins (2-1). Concordia (5-1) jumped to an early 13-1 lead and never trailed. The Bruins got as close as 15-10 in the first half after a pair of free throws by Brent Satern. But the Eagles answered with an 18-3 run to open a 20 point lead. George Fox will play Alvernia (Pa.) on Friday at 12:30 pm.
