SPOKANE, Wash. -- Emily Hendrickson scored a career high 23 points to help Whitworth College overcome a season-high 27 turnovers and defeat visiting Pacific University 70-60 in a Northwest Conference women's basketball game on Saturday evening in the Whitworth Fieldhouse.

Whitworth won its second straight to improve to 10-6 overall and 4-4 in the NWC. Pacific fell to 5-11 and 1-7.

Forcing Whitworth into 11 turnovers in the first ten minutes of the game, Pacific jumped to a 19-11 lead with 12:38 to play in the half. The Pirates scored the next three baskets to pull within 19-17, but the Boxers continued to hold the lead at 27-25 after a pair of free throws by Megan Hildebrand. Whitworth finished the half on a 7-2 run to take a 32-29 lead into the locker room.

Back to back baskets to open the second half gave Pacific the lead (33-32) before Hendrickson got the Pirates back on the board with a pair of free throws. The teams traded leads over the next four minutes until a lay up by Whitworth's Danielle Wegman gave the Bucs a 42-38 advantage. Though Pacific would never lead or tie again, but Boxers did pull within one point twice, the final time after a basket by Shelly Rietmann pull them within 46-45 with 11:25 to play. But Whitworth then went on a 16-4 run over the next seven minutes to take control. Chelsea Combs' basket during an inbounds play gave the Pirates a 62-49 lead and the Boxers could not get closer than eight points the rest of the way.

DeeDee Arnall scored a game-high 26 points to lead Pacific. She also tied for game high in rebounds with eight. Sara Harsin came off of the bench for 11 points. But other than Arnall, Pacific's other four starters finished with 15 combined points.

Hendrickson was 3/4 from three point range and 3/4 inside the arc, and also made 8/8 free throws to account for her 23 points. Holly Ridings scored 11 of her 16 points after halftime and also grabbed eight rebounds. Wegman added 15 points for the Bucs.

Whitworth extended its current winning streak over Pacific to 15 games.

Both teams return to action on Friday against NWC title contenders. Pacific will travel to first place Pacific Lutheran, while Whitworth hosts second place George Fox. Both games begin at 6:00 pm.
