Complete Box Score and Play by Play TACOMA, Wash. -- (From UPS SID Office) The Puget Sound Loggers moved to 3-2 in the Northwest Conference with a 68-53 win over Whitworth College on Friday night at the Memorial Fieldhouse, ending the Pirates' five game winning streak. The Loggers were led by the 15 points of senior Sarah Carnahan. UPS (11-3, 3-2 NWC) grabbed the final lead just 15 minutes into the game after trailing the Pirates (8-5, 2-3 NWC) by as much as five with a three-pointer by senior guard Kilty Keaton. Both Keaton and sophomore Laura Hirsh had eight points apiece to lead the Loggers to a 32-26 half-time lead. The Loggers continued to build on their lead in the second half, gaining a 14 point lead with 10 minutes to go, but the Whitworth Pirates kept pushing, getting within nine points with six minutes remaining on a basket by Amy Ridings. The Loggers proved to be too much for the Pirates and made their free-throws down the stretch, shooting 86.7-percent from the line, to maintain the lead and get the win, 68-53. The Loggers were led in scoring by Carnahan with 15 points, Hirsh with 13 points and Keaton with 12. Hirsh also led the Loggers in rebounding with seven boards. The University of Puget Sound women shot 40.3-percent from the field. The Whitworth Pirates were led by sophomore Emily Hendrickson, who finished with 14 points, and junior Danielle Wegman who had 13 points. Junior Amy Ridings led all rebounders with eight. The Pirates outrebounded the Loggers 43-35 but had 20 turnovers to the Loggers eight. Whitworth will take on first place Pacific Lutheran on Saturday at 4:00 pm.
