Bower Named First Team All-NWC, Orrell HM

SPOKANE, Wash. – Whitworth University's Alida Bower has been named First Team All-Northwest Conference and Natalie Orrell is an honorable mention selection on the 2008 All-NWC team released today.

Bower (Jr., F, Onalaska, Wash. - St. Martin's Univ.) averaged 13.5 points and 6.1 rebounds per game to lead the Pirates in both categories this winter. Her scoring average ranked 7th in the NWC and she was one of the conference's best three-point shooters, averaging 2.5 three-pointers per game (2nd in NWC) and making 39.7% of her three-point attempts (4th in NWC). She is also Whitworth's first First Team selection since 2005.

Orrell (So., F, Wenatchee, Wash. - Wenatchee) is an honorable mention selection to the 2008 team. Orrell averaged 12.6 points per game and was among the NWC's leaders in both field goal percentage (47.3%) and free throw percentage (78.3%).

Whitworth finished the season tied for fourth place in the final standings with Whitman College at 8-8. The Pirates finished 13-12 overall.
