SPOKANE, Wash. - Lewis-Clark State College shot nearly 60% from the floor and the visiting Warriors rolled to a 93-51 win over Whitworth University in a non-conference women's basketball game on Tuesday night in the Whitworth Fieldhouse.
LCSC (5-2) also benefited from 43 free throw attempts in a game that saw 54 fouls called, 32 of them against the Pirates (1-2). Five Warriors reached double figures in scoring, led by Mandy Troutt's 17 points. She also tied for team lead with six rebounds. Jade Fulbright and Kim Preston each added 15 points, while Breianna Gaines and Lacie Titmus both chipped in 12 points. Katie Hart had seven assists for LCSC, helping the Warriors shoot 72% (18 of 25) in the second half. Natalie Orrell (So., F, Wenatchee, Wash.) scored 14 points to lead Whitworth and Leah Pomante (So., G, Spokane, Wash.) added 11 points. Cassie Snyder (Sr., G, Spokane, Wash.) had six assists for the Bucs. LCSC never trailed in the game and led by 12 points early (16-4) before Whitworth pulled within 20-15 on a three pointer by Pomante. But the Warriors got back to back three point shots from Preston to retake an 11 point edge (26-15) and went on to lead 42-25 at halftime. LCSC steadily increased the lead in the second half. Whitworth will return to action on Saturday afternoon when the Pirates host University of Great Falls at 4:00 p.m. in the Fieldhouse.
