The trio overcame Brittany Bowsher of the Eagles, who scored a game-high 33 points.

The Pirates (3-2) fell behind 27-21 in the first half after a three-pointer by Bowsher. But Horiatis scored five points during a 13-2 run that gave the Bucs a 34-29 advantage and Whitworth went into halftime with a 45-38 lead.

The Pirates eventually stretched the lead to 55-43 after a three-pointer by Alida Bower (Jr., F, Onalaska, Wash.) with 15:31 to play. The lead was still 81-71 with 3:00 left after a jumper by Orrell. But then Northwest finished the game on an 11-2 run. Those two Pirate points were free throws by Bower with four seconds left that gave Whitworth an 83-79 lead. The Eagles (1-5) hit a three pointer at the buzzer for their final points.

The Pirates outrebounded Northwest 47-33.

Whitworth will finish its stay at the event hosted by fellow NWC-member UPS on Saturday afternoon with a game against UC Santa Cruz. UCSC lost 75-47 to the host Loggers on Friday.
