Walla Walla, Wash. - Whitworth freshman Nick Gallagher finished second in his first collegiate race, leading the Pirate men to a second place finish at the Whitman Invitational. The Whitworth women took third place in the same meet.
Click here for complete results: Men / Women. Gallagher ran the six kilometer course in 19:45.65, trailing only Calin Hantau of Lewis-Clark State, who won in a time of 19:29.92. Dusty Caseria finished fourth in 20:06.87, while Jacob Deitz was 12th in 20:29.41. Collin Stewart was 14th (20:32.22) and Jamie Daroff was 17th (20:41.56) to round out the Pirates' scoring runners. Whitworth finished with 49 points, behind LCSC's 22. Fellow Northwest Conference members George Fox (74) and Whitman (93) were third and fourth, respectively. Clackamas CC scored 130 and Great Falls did not field a complete team. Whitworth's women scored 66 points, behind LCSC (27) and Whitman (46). George Fox followed the Pirates with 91, while Clackamas and Great Falls did not field complete squads. Jo E Mayer led Whitworth's women, taking 6th place with a time of 15:49.62 over four kilometers. Emily Morehouse was 12th in 16:19.19, while Kim Henderson was 17th in 16:26.00. The final Whitworth scorers were Jenna Cunningham in 19th (16:31.32) and Kaitlin Hildebrand in 23rd (16:42.05).
