Sept. 10, 2009

SPOKANE, Wash. -- The Whitworth women's cross country team moved up several spots in the latest national top-25, while the Pirate men held steady as the teams head into the first bye week of the season.

The women moved up one spot to first in the west region and seven spots to 18th in the national poll, according to the latest USATFCCCA ratings released yesterday. The Pirates had been ranked second in the west and 25th in Division III before winning the Whitman Invitational on Saturday. Whitman was the previous top team in the west.

The men held on to their own top spot in the west region and 22nd spot in the national poll.
