Misterek Wins Women's Race, Pirates Take Fourth SPOKANE, Wash. -- Dana Misterek won the individual championship of the Eric Anderson Cross Country Invitational, with Tonya Turner close behind in third. But the Whitworth women ended up in fourth place overall and the Pirate men finished third on Saturday morning at Plantes Ferry Park.
Misterek won the five kilometer race in 19:04.59, defeating Janet Collar of the Spokane Swifts team by six seconds. Turner followed in third place with a time of 19:19.28. But Whitworth's next woman did not cross the line until Joy Shuffeldt's 21st place finish in 20:21.37. All five on Gonzaga and Whitman's scoring runners came across among the top-20 finishers. Kathryn Williams was 22nd in 20:21.06 and Emily Morehouse was 34th in 20:56.24. The final women's team scores were: Gonzaga 54, Whitman 60, Spokane Swifts 72, Whitworth 81, Lewis-Clark State 88, CC of Spokane 219, CCS Alumni 274, Great Falls 314. The Whitworth men finished third as a team. The final men's team scores were: Lewis-Clark State 25, Gonzaga 58, Whitworth 71, CC of Spokane 113, Great Falls 122, Whitman 155, Club Sasquatch 171. Nick Gallagher took fourth place overall with a time of 26:20.89 in the eight kilometer course. Dusty Casseria followed in 13th place (27:05.20), while Tyler Dudley was 15th (27:12.68). Trevor Berrian (27:29.04) and Collin Stewart (27:29.07) finished in 19th and 20th place, respectively. Dave Marks of LCSC won with a time of 25:53.70.
