Spokane, Wash. -- A pair of Whitworth College football players have been named to the 2004 Football Gazette NCAA Division III All-West Region football team following this past season. Senior offensive lineman Tyler Neely (Okanagan, Wash. - Okanagan HS) was named to the first team, while junior place kicker Cameron Collings (Spokane, Wash. - Mead HS) was selected to the second team. (PDF) Neely led an offensive line that allowed the Pirates to rush for 193 yards per game and set school records for total offense (4,185 yards) and total offense per game (465.0). Neely, who has also been named First Team All-NWC, was Whitworth's long snapper this season on punts and field goals as well. Collings led all Northwest Conference kickers in points scored (66, 7.3 per game). He had the best numbers for field goals in terms of total made (7) and percentage (7/9 for 78%). He also had the best PAT percentage (45/48 for 94%). His field goals of 53 yards against Eastern Oregon and 48 yards against PLU are the longest of the season in the NWC. Whitworth finished 7-2 overall in 2004 and 3-2 in the NWC to take third place in the final standings. |
