July 21, 2005

Spokane, Wash. -- Senior Whitworth College place kicker Cameron Collings has been named to both the Street & Smith's and D3football.com preseason All-America teams for the 2005 season.

Collings (Spokane, Wash. - Mead HS) led all Northwest Conference kickers in points scored (66, 7.3 per game) in 2004. He had the best numbers for field goals in terms of total made (7) and percentage (7/9 for 78%). He also had the best PAT percentage (45/48 for 94%). His field goals of 53 yards against Eastern Oregon and 48 yards against PLU were the longest of the season in the NWC.

In addition, Collings' kicks were the difference in three Whitworth victories in 2004, including the season-opening 52-49 win at Redlands, the 31-28 Homecoming win over Eastern Oregon and the season-ending 38-35 win over Pacific Lutheran.

Street & Smith's has also ranked the Pirates 25th in its preseason Division III poll. Whitworth returns 14 starters from a team that finished 7-2 overall in 2004 and 3-2 in the NWC to take third place in the final standings.
