Whitworth Ranked 9th in Final D3football.com Poll
Allan and Clark Named to All-America Team

SPOKANE, Wash. -- The Whitworth College football team is ranked 9th in the final D3football.com Top 25 for the 2006 season. At the same time, Michael Allan has been named to the D3football.com All-America First Team, while Joel Clark has been selected to the Second Team.

The final ranking of 9th is Whitworth's highest position in a post-season poll since the Pirates finished 1960 ranked 4th by both the NAIA and Associated Press. Click here for the final D3football.com poll.

Michael Allan

Allan (Sr., TE, Bellevue, Wash. - Interlake) caught 53 passes for 1,100 yards and nine touchdowns this season. He led the Northwest Conference in touchdown receptions and yards per catch (20.8), earning First Team All-NWC honors for the third straight year. He closes his career with school records for touchdown receptions (29) and yards per catch (18.7). Allan has already been named to the AFCA Division III All-America team for the second year in a row and to the AP Little All-America First Team.

Clark (Sr., QB, Spokane, Wash. - Mt. Spokane) completed 61.4% of his passes (167-272) for 2,576 yards with 20 touchdowns and 11 interceptions this fall. In addition, he ran for 339 yards and six more touchdowns. He concludes his career as Whitworth's all-time record holder in total offense (9,656 yards), passing yards (8,513), touchdown passes (71) and touchdown's responsible for - rushing and passing (86). He was previously named First Team All-NWC and First Team All-West Region by D3football.com.

The pair led Whitworth to its first-ever 10+ win season (11-1), first outright Northwest Conference title and first post season victory in school history.
