Whitworth to Host Occidental in NCAA First Round

SPOKANE, Wash. -- Whitworth will host Occidental in the first round of the NCAA Division III Football playoffs on Saturday, November 18th.

The game will kick off at Noon. No advance tickets will be sold, and all admission will be available at the gate. The cost will be $10 for adults, and $5 for students, children and seniors. Per NCAA regulations, no passes can be honored. All seating at the Whitworth Pine Bowl is general admission.

Whitworth is 10-0 and won its first outright Northwest Conference title with a 6-0 record. The Pirates are making their second-ever NCAA Division III playoff appearance. Whitworth met PLU in the first round in 2001.

Occidental is 9-0 and won its third straight Southern California Intercollegiate Athletics Conference title with a 6-0 record. The Tigers are led by All-American QB Andy Collins.

Whitworth and Occidental have never played in football.

The winner of Saturday's game will play the winner of a contest between St. John's (Minn.) and Central (Iowa) the following weekend.
