SPOKANE, Wash. -- For the first time during the 2006 football season, Whitworth College is rated higher in the AFCA Division III Coaches poll than the D3football.com ranking, moving up three spots from last week's #12 ranking to #9 in today's release. The Pirates (8-0 overall, 4-0 NWC) are ranked 10th in the D3football.com poll.

In addition, Joel Clark (Sr., QB, Spokane, Wash. - Mt. Spokane) and Cameron Collings (Sr., PK/P, Spokane, Wash. - Mead) were named the Northwest Conference Offensive and Special Teams Players of the Week, respectively, in today's NWC Release.

Clark accounted for 268 yards of total offense and three touchdowns in last Saturday's 28-14 win over Willamette. He threw for 219 yards and two scores while running for 49 and one touchdown.

Collings averaged 40.7 yards per punt and 65.2 yards per kick off, pinning Willamette in bad field position often. He left one punt inside the 20 and had two touchbacks on kick offs. He was also 4 of 4 on PATs.

The Pirates will face their stiffest test of the season on Saturday when they travel to McMinnville, Oregon to take on six-time defending NWC champion Linfield in a key NWC contest.
