Pirate Pair Honored by D3football.com SPOKANE, Wash. -- Whitworth University players Brandon Martin and Zack Clow have been named to the 2009 D3football.com All-West Region Football team. Click here for the entire All-Region team. (PDF) Martin (Sr., DT, Sweet Home, Ore.) and Clow (Jr., P, Blanchard, Idaho) are both Third Team honorees. Each had previously been named as First Team All-Northwest Conference selections.
Martin led the Pirates, and finished tied for second in the Northwest Conference, in total tackles for loss this season. He accumulated 12.5 tackles for losses totaling 38 yards. Martin finished the season with 46 total tackles, four pass deflections and two fumble recoveries. Clow led the NWC in punting with an average of 37.8 yards per attempt with a season-long of 55 yards. He was twice selected as NWC Special Teams Player of the Week. The Pirates finished the year 5-5 overall and 3-3 (tied for third place) in the NWC. |
