BLUE RIVER, Ore. - Jordan Carter fired back to back rounds of 69 and 68 to run away with medallist honors while leading Whitworth to a team victory at the Northwest Conference men's Fall Classic on Sunday and Monday at Tokatee Golf Course. Complete Fall Classic Results (PDF).
Led by four players who finished in the top six individually, Whitworth totaled 581 strokes, well ahead of Pacific Lutheran (604) and Pacific (607). In addition to Carter's score of 137, Andrew Parrott finished fourth individually with a 72-75 - 147 and Sean Thompson was fifth with 76-72 - 148. Collin Fling also broke 150 over the two day tournament with a 74-75 - 149. Of the six players in the entire tournament to finish with two round totals under 150, Whitworth had four. Bobby Elder shot 78 on both days for 156 and Steve Johnson shot 81-78 for 159. Carter's score of 137 was seven shots ahead of runner up Brian Misterek of PLU (144). Pacific's Dan Cashmere was third (146), followed by Parrott, Thompson and Fling. For the first time the Fall Classic counts in the race for the Northwest Conference title. By defeating all seven other teams, Whitworth earns seven points toward the championship. In addition, Carter is now guaranteed a spot on the All-Northwest Conference team.
