TACOMA, Wash. - The Whitworth men's golf team came from four strokes behind and third place after the first day to a five stroke victory at the Puget Sound Men's Invitational last week at Fircrest Golf Club. Andrew Parrott led the Pirate comeback with a two-round score of 150 to earn medallist honors at the tournament. He shot a 76 on the windy, rainy first day, before shooting 74 on Friday. Jordan Carter placed fifth overall with a two day score of 80-75 - 155. Bobby Elder shot a 156 (80-76) and Sean Thompson's second day score (89-76 - 165) was key to the comeback as well. After the first day, Whitworth (319) trailed Concordia (315) and Puget Sound (316). But the Pirates scored 301 on Friday to overtake the Cavaliers and Loggers with a two day total of 620. The final team scores were: Whitworth 620, Pacific Lutheran 625, Concordia 626, Puget Sound 632, Willamette 645, Linfield 647, Lewis & Clark 705. Complete UPS Invite Results - PDF.
