WALLA WALLA , Wash. - The Whitworth men's golf team, defending Northwest Conference champions, opened the 2006 spring schedule with a 306-325 victory over Whitman at Veterans Memorial Golf Course on Sunday afternoon. The Pirate women, competing as a team for the first time this school year, lost to the Missionaries 383-439. Andrew Parrott and Jordan Carter of Whitworth tied with Brian Abelson of Whitman for medalist honors with single round scores of 74. Bobby Elder shot a 77 and Colin Fling scored an 81 to complete the Pirate scoring. Whitworth's Kelli Parker had the low women's score, carding an 84.
