PASCO, Wash. - Whitworth's men and women each finished in second place at the first spring tournament of the 2006-07 season. Both lost to Concordia-Portland and defeated Whitman and Corban at the Sun Willows golf course in Pasco, Washington. The men's scores were: Concordia 309, Whitworth 315, Corban 319, Whitman 341. Andrew Parrott (Jr., Scottsdale, Ariz.) shot 73 for the second lowest individual score. Sean Thompson's (Jr., Greenacres, Wash.) score of 79 tied for fifth. Marc Arima of Concordia was the medalist with a round of 69. The women's team scores were: Concordia 343, Whitworth 349, Corban 443, Whitman incomplete. Alicia Bratlien (Fr., Poulsbo, Wash.) was second individually with a score of 82. Mariesa Stombaugh (Fr., Salem, Ore.) tied for the fourth best score of the day (87). Whitworth was able to compete well, despite having had the opportunity for very little outside practice. The Pirate women will compete again in two weeks at the Willamette Women's Invitational, March 17-18 at the OGA Course in Salem, Oregon. The men will get back into action on March 19-20 at the Lewis-Clark State Men's Invitational at the Clarkston CC in Clarkston, Washington.
