LAKEWOOD, Wash. - The Whitworth College women's golf team continued to show solid improvement this spring with a third place finish at the NWC Spring Classic this weekend at Oakbrook CC.
The Pirates finished with a 36-hole score of 359-357 - 716 on the Par 73 course. Click here for complete results (PDF). Alicia Bratlien finished fifth in the individual competition with a two-round score of 84-82 - 166. Krystal Pitkonen was tied for seventh (87-84 - 171), giving the Pirates two players in the top ten. In addition, Mariesa Stombaugh shot 94-89 - 183 (16th) and Rachel Dubes shot 94-102 - 196 (23rd). The Pirate women's previous best finish at an NWC tournament was fourth in last Fall's Classic. Last Spring, Whitworth's women finished fifth of five teams at the NWC Spring Classic and were 7th at the NWC Tournament.
