In 2005 he led Whitworth to the NCAA Division III Final Four after the Pirates won their second straight NWC championship. It was the first time a men's soccer team had repeated as Northwest Conference champions in more than ten years.
In 2004 he led Whitworth to its second NWC title in his tenure and to the second round of the NCAA tournament, while in 2001 he led the Pirates to a conference championship and the NCAA Regional Finals.
He has been named Northwest Conference Men's Coach of the Year four times (2001, 2004, 2007, 2008). Over the last ten years, the Whitworth men are 134-43-20 (.731).
Bushey coached a one-year stint at The Evergreen State College, finishing 10-6-2, where he earned a conference Coach of the Year award in 1995. Prior to that he led Tacoma Community College to a 22-6-5 record over two seasons and a NWAACC divisional championship.
Bushey also currently serves on the boy's Region IV Olympic Development Program staff as an age group head coach.
Bushey began his coaching career as an assistant for former Pirate head coach Einar Thorarinson.
Bushey was head coach of the USL Premier League Spokane Shadow for three seasons (1997-99). The Shadow won the Northwest Division regular season championship in 1997 and 1998 and played in the USL Premier League title match in 1999.
As a player, Bushey starred at Belhaven College in Jackson, Mississippi. He was an all-district selection, an Academic All-American and team captain for the traditional NAIA power.
