SPOKANE, WA- The Whitworth Pirates(6-1, 3-0 NWC) rolled to a 6-0 victory over the Pacific Boxers (1-6, 0-3 NWC) on Saturday afternoon.
Whitworth's first goal came from Ali Seyedali off a free kick at the top of the keeper box 10:46 into the match. Jon Carlson followed suit with a goal of his own at 14:15 when he dribbled half the field to put one past Boxer keeper Jory Shene. The Pirates' Curtis Flournoy notched his first goal of the season when he kicked in the deflected shot of Evan Hendrickson at 38:45. Whitworth tallied a fourth goal when Chris Johnson headed in his third goal of the season at 64:53 off a pass and flick by Todd Sabrowski and Curtis Flournoy. Johnson was hungry for more as he fired in Whitworth's fifth goal and his fourth of the season into the left side of the goal at 68:09, assisted again by Todd Sabrowski. Whitworth's sixth and final goal came at 73:03 by Jordan Lister who headed in a free kick by Matthew Friesen. It was Lister's first goal of the season. The Pirate's defense limited Pacific to two shots, one on goal, to seal the victory. Whitworth put up 28 shots of their own, 18 of which were on goal.
