SPOKANE, Wash. -- Whitworth midfielder Ali Seyedali has been selected to the First Team of the All-Northwest Conference men's soccer team, while five other Pirates were chosen to the Second Team, according to the NWC, which released the team today.
Seniors Niko Varlamos (F, Edmonds, Wash. - King's), Kevin Bostock (GK, Whitefish, Mont. - Whitefish), Adam Loeffler (D, White Center, Wash. - Evergreen) and Sean Lambrecht (MF, Sammamish, Wash. - Skyline) were joined on the Second Team by juniors Ben Dixon (D, Missoula, Mont. - Sentinel) and Skye Henderson (Spokane, Wash. - Lewis & Clark).
For the second straight year, Seyedali led the Pirates in assists with seven. He also had four goals and finished with a team-high total of 15 points. He concludes his career second on Whitworth's all time list of assists with 30. He was also a First Team All-NWC selection in 2005. Varlamos retires from Pirate soccer as the all-time goal scorer in Whitworth history. He tallied 37 goals in his career, including five this season. He also had one assist. Bostock posted his 20th career shutout in the season-ending 1-0 win over Whitman. He had a 0.91 goals against average this season and posted seven shutouts. Loeffler and Dixon started all 18 matches this season and played a key role for a Whitworth defense that limited opponents to 78 shots on goal (4.33 per game). Loeffler also scored a goal. Lambrecht led the Pirates with six goals scored this season, including the match winner in the season finale against Whitman. Henderson had three goals and two assists this fall and led the Pirates with 45 shots on goal. He tallied the match winner in overtime vs. Linfield. This group of seven players led Whitworth to an overall record of 10-5-3 and a conference match of 9-3-2.
