Whitworth Tops Willamette With Another Comeback
Oct. 14, 2006

SALEM, Ore. -- Sean Lambrecht and Skye Henderson each scored a goal to lead visiting Whitworth to its second come from behind victory of the season over Willamette on Saturday afternoon at Sparks Field.

Lambrecht scored Whitworth's first goal

The win kept the Pirates (6-3-3, 5-1-2 - 17 points) at the top of the NWC standings. Whitworth is aiming for its third straight NWC title. Willamette fell to 1-11-1, 0-7-1.

Paul Slavik gave the Bearcats a 1-0 lead, heading in a ball from Ryan Ward early in the 21st minute. It was the first goal allowed in four matches by the Bucs, and broke a scoreless streak of 373 minutes by the Whitworth defense.

But as they did earlier this season against Willamette, the Pirates answered. Lambrecht scored the first goal only 1:26 after Willamette's tally. Both Ali Seyedali and Chris Johnson were credited with assists on the play.

Henderson scored the match winner in the 39th minute, nailing a shot from 15 yards away.

Whitworth's Kevin Bostock did not have to make a save in goal for the Pirates as the Whitworth defense limited Willamette to only four shots, and the only shot on goal went in. Meanwhile the Bucs were taking 22 shots, including eight on goal. Bearcat keeper Mark Bennett made six saves.

Whitworth will take on George Fox on Sunday afternoon in Newberg, Oregon, while Willamette hosts Whitman.
