OSHKOSH, Wis. - Whitworth University's season came to an end on Saturday evening as the Pirates fell 2-0 at University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh in the second round of the 2007 NCAA Division III men's soccer tournament. The Pirates could not find the goal for only the third time this season and finished 2007 with a final record of 15-4-1. Whitworth is now 7-4-1 all-time in four NCAA tournament appearances. Brian Miller gave Oshkosh an early lead when he scored his eighth goal of the season in the 13th minute. The Pirates thought they had gained an equalizing goal in the 43rd minute, but it was disallowed because the Bucs were called offsides on the play. The Titans got the insurance goal in the 85th minute when Greg Jones tallied for the sixth time this season. Oshkosh outshot Whitworth 11-7 in the match and the Pirates' Scott Barnum finished with two saves The Titans go on to play top-ranked Trinity (Texas) in next week's sectional semifinals.
