SPOKANE, Wash. -- Whitworth College seniors Jody Rucinski and Ashley Fisk have been named to the 2005 NSCAA/adidas Scholar All-Far West Region Second Team.
Click here for the entire 2005 NSCAA Scholar All-Far West Team. Rucinski is a three-time All-Northwest Conference honoree. She anchored Whitworth's defense this season, limiting opponents to only 4.8 shots on goal per game. The Pirates' goal against average this season was 1.00. She has a 3.8 GPA in elementary education. Fisk is a two-time First Team All-NWC selection. She led the Pirates, and ranked among the NWC leaders, in goals scored (7) and total points (16). Fisk has a 3.5 GPA in psychology. To be eligible for consideration, a player must be at least a junior in academic standing, have no less than a 3.30 cumulative grade point average, start at least 50 percent of the team's games and be nominated by an NSCAA member coach. The NSCAA Scholar All-Region teams are not broken up by collegiate divisions, but include players from every level of collegiate competition. In addition, five other Pirate women were honorable mention Scholar All-Far West Region. They are: Jenn Miller (Sr., GK, Philomath, Ore. - Philomath), Katie Jones (Jr., MF, Spokane, Wash. - Mt. Spokane), Meghan Hudson (Jr., MF, Richland, Wash. - Richland), Marissa Williams (Sr., MF, Shoreline, Wash. - Shorewood), and Ashley Troxel (Sr., MF, Coeur d'Alene, Idaho - Lake City). Whitworth finished the year with a record
