SPOKANE, Wash.- The University of Puget Sound continued to roll through the 2005 Northwest Conference women's soccer season unbeaten and unscored upon as the 9th-ranked Loggers defeated Whitworth College 2-0 on Sunday afternoon at the Whitworth Soccer Field.

UPS (14-1-1 overall, 13-0-1 NWC) scored two goals early and made them stand up against the Pirates (7-7-3, 6-6-2), despite the fact that Whitworth had an 11-6 advantage in shots, including a 7-3 edge in shots on goal. But Erin Williams, who posted her 14th conference shutout, made seven saves for the Loggers.

Adrienne Folsom scored the first goal on a cross from Courtney Kjar at 7:27. Fiona Gornick added the second goal five minutes later when she cleaned up a loose ball that had bounced off of a couple Pirate defenders.

Jenn Miller made one save for Whitworth.

Puget Sound, the 2004 NCAA Division III runner-up, has already clinched the conference title and the automatic berth to the 2005 NCAA Division III tournament. The Loggers will conclude the regular season with home matches against George Fox (Friday) and Pacific (Saturday) next weekend.

Whitworth is still battling to finish fourth in the final NWC standings. The Pirates will complete the season with road contests at Lewis & Clark (Thursday) and Whitman (Friday).
