Whitworth ties Whitman in double OT

SPOKANE, Wash. - The Whitworth Pirates (3-4-3, 2-3-2 NWC) tied the Whitman Missionaries (4-7, 3-4 NWC) 0-0 in a Northwest Conference match at the Whitworth soccer field on Friday afternoon.

Neither team was able to get an edge on the opponent despite numerous opportunities and a total of 32 shots, 20 for the Pirates and 12 for the Missionaries. The first half was the most intense with 28 shots, with only four coming after halftime.

Erica Goad of Whitman tallied four saves while Whitworth's Jen Miller saved five shots.

Whitman will host Lewis & Clark College on Saturday afternoon at noon and the Pioneers will then visit Whitworth on Sunday, also at noon.
