PORTLAND, Ore. -- Three quick goals within the final 20 minutes lifted visiting Whitworth College to a 3-0 win at Lewis & Clark in a Northwest Conference women's soccer match on Friday night.
The win improved the Pirates to 7-1-2 overall and 5-1-1 in the NWC. L&C fell to 3-7-1, 1-5-1. A scoreless draw through the first 70 minutes, Jael Hagerott put Whitworth in front with an unassisted goal at 72:17. Less than 20 seconds later, Penelope Crowe beat the defense and made the score 2-0. At 79:38 Crowe took a free kick from 30 yards and scored to give the Pirates their final goal. Leah Motz made five saves for Whitworth to post a shutout. Whitworth will play at Whitman on Saturday
