The hard-fought contest went through two overtimes without either team gaining a serious attempt on goal. Whitworth finished with slight edges in both total shots (14-13) and shots on goal (7-5).

Puget Sound got on the board early when Lea John sent a long pass forward. Caroline Milleson ran under the ball split two defenders before breaking away to score at 9:52.

Whitworth had a good chance to tie in the first half when Penelope Crowe was awarded a penalty kick in the 32nd minute after a hand ball in the keeper box by a Logger defender. But her attempt bounced off of the cross bar and was knocked away.

Early in the second half Whitworth's Meghan Johnson headed a ball that also bounced off of the cross bar.

Whitworth goal keeper Leah Motz finished with four saves, while her Logger counterpart had six stops in the match.

Whitworth's record is now 6-1-2 overall and 4-1-1 in the NWC. The Pirates remain in second place in the standings. After a pair of 1-1 ties this weekend, UPS is now 5-1-3 and 3-1-2.

Whitworth will return to action on Friday night at Lewis & Clark in Portland, Oregon. The Loggers will host George Fox next Saturday.
