TACOMA, Wash. -- (From Chris Thompson, UPS SID) Scoring her NWC-best 14th, 15th and 16th goals of the 2006 season, junior Adrienne Folsom collected the hat trick as the Puget Sound Loggers shutout the Whitworth Pirates, 3-0, in a Northwest Conference women's soccer game on Saturday afternoon in Tacoma, Wash. Folsom first got the Loggers (12-1-3, 10-1-2 NWC) on the board in the 41st minute, taking a cross from Abbie Ogaard and beating Whitworth keeper Leah Motz. In the second half, it was Folsom again in the 69th minute, this time taking a cross from Lea John. Senior Katy Daly also earned the assist on the play after feeding John. The final goal of the match came in the 85th minute when Folsom took a pass from Jenna Dwiggins and dribbled up the right side before booting the ball into the back of the net. The Loggers dominated the game offensively, outshooting the Pirates 17-6. Motz made a season-high eight saves in goal for the Bucs. UPS keeper Kallie Wolfer made two saves to collect her eight shutout of the season. Whitworth will have to regroup quickly as the Pirates travel across town to take on Pacific Lutheran at 11:00 am on Sunday morning.
