WILLIAMSBURG, Va. -- Whitworth University head coach Sean Bushey has been named the 2007 West Region women's soccer Coach of the Year by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA).
Bushey led the Pirates to an 18-3 won-loss mark this season, setting several school records in the process. Whitworth set records for wins in a season, season won-loss percentage (.857), and assists (53). The Bucs had the longest winning streak to open a schedule in school history (8), which is also the second longest overall-winning streak ever for the program. The Pirates made their first-ever NCAA Division III national tournament appearance and advanced to the second round. Bushey was also named Northwest Conference women's Coach of the Year for the first time in his 11 seasons earlier this fall by his peers within the NWC. Like the conference award, the regional award is voted on by NSCAA-member coaches throughout the western United States. Bushey, who has also won three NWC Men's Coach of the Year awards with Whitworth, is 90-83-15 in his 11 years coaching the Pirate women. He is the winningest all-time coach in Whitworth women's soccer history and has been the head coach for 11 of the 19 years in the history of the program. The Pirate women are 65-26-6 over the last five seasons. Go to Athletics Home Page > Women's Soccer > Sports Releases > |
