Whitworth Sprints Past St. Martin's 7-0

SPOKANE, Wash. - Whitworth University freshman Emily Rohde posted a hat-trick in her third career match, lifting the Pirates to a 7-0 over visiting St. Martin's University in a non-conference women's soccer match on Saturday afternoon at the Whitworth Soccer Field.

Rohde (F, Lake Oswego, Ore.) score the Pirates' first, third and fifth goals, lifting her season total to five. Greta Thibodeau (Sr., F, Juneau, Alaska), Kelly Baker (Jr., D, Boise, Idaho) and Lindsey Oakes (So., MF, Boise, Idaho) all had a goal and an assist for the Bucs (3-0, ranked 18th in the latest D3kicks.com poll). Penelope Crowe (Jr., F, Bellingham, Wash.) had two assists and Jenny Krzymowski (Fr., F, Gallup, N.M.) scored her first career goal.

The Pirates scored three in the first half and four in the second half against the NCAA DII Saints (1-4), who are in their first year as a varsity program.

Leah Motz (Sr., GK, Kent, Wash.) only had to make one save to post the second shutout of the season for the Pirates. Whitworth outshot SMU 23-2, including a 13-1 advantage in shots on goal.

Whitworth will open Northwest Conference play next weekend when the Pirates host Pacific (Saturday) and Linfield (Sunday). Both matches will start at noon.
