UPS Edges Whitworth 1-0
Sept. 30, 2007

TACOMA, Wash. - (From UPS SID Office) Adrienne Folsom score the match's only goal to lead the fifth-ranked Puget Sound Loggers to first place in the Northwest Conference with a 1-0 win over the tenth-ranked Whitworth Pirates in a NWC women's soccer match on Sunday afternoon at Peyton Field at Baker Stadium in Tacoma.

UPS improved to 10-0 overall, 6-0 in the NWC, while Whitworth fell to 8-1, 5-1.

The lone goal of the game came in the 40th minute when Folsom took a pass from about 30 yards out and dribbled the ball through the Whitworth defense before finishing with a bullet past Pirate keeper Krista Dietz. Whitworth got off 14 shots, compared with seven for the Loggers, but only two of those 14 shots were on goal. UPS keeper Kallie Wolfer stopped both of those shots to preserve the shutout.

The game proved to be a physical one with Whitworth called for 16 fouls and the Loggers for nine infractions. The Pirates' Greta Thibodeau was shown a yellow card in the 80th minute.

Whitworth returns home for the first time in three weeks when the Pirates host Lewis & Clark on Friday.
