Davis Named Academic All-District

SPOKANE, Wash. - Lindsay Davis of Whitworth has been named to the 2007 CoSIDA ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District VIII College Division softball team.

Davis (Sr., Lake Forest, Calif. - Laguna Hills), the 2007 Whitworth team captain, is a catcher with a 3.95 GPA as a Health, Fitness and PE major. She was also named All-Northwest Conference this season when she set a new school record for home runs in a season with seven and batted .378. She added 27 runs batted in and scored 27 runs.

Davis led Whitworth to a 30-6 mark, setting school records for overall wins (30), winning percentage (.833), NWC wins (25) and winning streak (16). The Bucs reached a national ranking of 8th in the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division III poll.

The Academic All-District VIII team is selected from NCAA Division II, Division III and NAIA players throughout the western United States. The players are nominated and selected by members of CoSIDA. To be eligible for nomination, a player must be a starter or important reserve with a 3.20 cumulative grade point average and of sophomore standing.

Davis is now a candidate for CoSIDA's College Division Academic All-America softball team.
