SPOKANE, Wash. – Whitworth University senior Amber Fowler has been named to the 2008 CoSIDA / ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District 8 College Division Softball Team, which was released late last week.
Fowler (Colville, Wash.) is graduating this spring with a double major in Math and Applied Physics. She carries a cumulative grade point average of 3.93 through January of 2008. Fowler transferred to Whitworth from Spokane Falls Community College in the fall of 2006. Fowler played in all 37 Whitworth games this spring, starting 35 of those contests. She has been Whitworth's starter at third base each of the last two seasons. This year she finished the schedule with a batting average of .207 with one home run and four doubles. She drove in 11 runs. Whitworth finished this season with a 16-21 overall record and a 13-12 mark in the Northwest Conference. The college-division Academic All-District VIII teams are selected from NCAA Division II, Division III and NAIA players throughout the western United States. The players are nominated and selected by members of CoSIDA. To be eligible for nomination, a player must be a starter or important reserve with a 3.20 cumulative grade point average and of sophomore standing. Fowler is also now a candidate for CoSIDA's Academic All-American College Division team. |
