Halley Cey and Lacey Parry Named All-NWC
Three Other Pirates Receive Honorable Mention

SPOKANE, Wash. – Halley Cey and Lacey Parry have been named to the 2008 All-Northwest Conference softball team, while Lacey Kerr, Jessie LaPlante and Amber Fowler received honorable mention consideration. Cey is a First Team selection, while Parry was named to the Second Team.

Cey (Sr., OF, Spokane, Wash. - St. Martin's Univ. / Mead HS) led the Pirates in batting average (.407), hits (50), doubles (15) and runs scored (30). She also had three home runs, a pair of triples and 19 runs batted in. She finished with eight stolen bases in 12 attempts. She did not commit an error while making 38 put outs in center field. It is Cey's second straight season as a First Team All-NWC honoree.

Parry (Sr., Util., Spokane, Wash. - CC of Spokane / Mead HS) batted .312 this season and led Whitworth in home runs (5), RBIs (24) and stolen bases (11 for 11). She also topped the Pirates in sacrifices (10). Parry was a First Team choice as a utility player in 2007.

Amber Fowler

Lacey Kerr (So., Util., Spokane, Wash. - Mt. Spokane HS) batted .374 this season and started 30 games, mostly at shortstop and left field.

Jessie LaPlante (Sr., RHP, Rathdrum, Idaho - CC of Spokane / Lakeland HS) finished with a pitching record of 8-13 this season and an earned run average of 4.15. But in 16 NWC starts, she was 7-8 with a 3.57 ERA.

Amber Fowler (Sr., IF, Colville, Wash. - CC of Spokane / Colville HS) played in all 37 games at third base this season, starting 35 of those. In her 25 NWC games, she had a batting average of .226.

Whitworth finished 16-21 overall in 2008. The Pirates were 13-12 (fifth place) in the NWC.
