SPOKANE, Wash. -- Whitworth College's Samantha Kephart and Brittany Gresset have qualified for, and will compete at the 2006 NCAA Division III Women's Swimming and Diving Championships March 9-11 at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center. The meet will be hosted by Carleton College. The official list of qualifiers was released today by the NCAA.
Kephart (So., Santa Maria, Calif. - St. Joseph HS) has qualified highly in all three of her individual events, including the 200-yard Butterfly, an event in which she enters the championships as the NCAA Division III record holder. Kephart is seeded fifth in the 500-yard Freestyle with a time of 5:01.17. She is seeded second in the 100-yard Butterfly (56.23) and she is the top seed in the 200 Fly (2:01.45). Last season Kephart was national runner-up in the 200 Fly, was an All-American (top eight finish) in the 100 Fly and won the consolation final (9th place) in the 500 Free. Gresset (Fr., Seattle, Wash. - Mt. Rainier HS) will also compete in three individual events. She is seeded 16th in the 50-yard Freestyle (24.27), 31st in the 100-yard Backstroke (1:00.97) and 29th in the 100-yard Freestyle (53.50). The 500 Free and 50 Free are scheduled for Thursday, the 100 Fly and 100 Back are Friday and the 100 Free and 200 Fly will swim on Saturday. |
