SPOKANE, Wash. -- David Lillard of Whitworth and Amy Polansky of Puget Sound won the Northwest Conference men's and women's Sprint Pentathlons on Saturday afternoon at the Whitworth Aquatic Center.
Lillard's cumulative time in the five individual races was 2:38.93. Kevin Caple of Linfield College was second in the overall pentathlon competition with a cumulative 2:40.88. Whitworth's Bryan Clarke was third (2:41.48). Lillard won the opening 100 Individual Medley (55.46) and the 50 Butterfly (24.51). Other individual event winners in the men's competition were Whitworth's Steve Garka in the 50 Backstroke (25.54), Puget Sound's Paul Hughes in the 50 Breaststroke (28.05) and Puget Sound's Bret Schluederberg in the 50 Freestyle (22.02). Polansky's cumulative time in the five individual races was 2:58.38, just edging Whitworth's Brittany Gresset (2:58.94). Lewis & Clark's Lindsay Nixon was third with a cumulative 3:00.14. Polansky won the 100 I.M. in 1:02.48 and the 50 Breaststroke in 32.46. Whitworth's Samantha Kephart also won two events, taking the 50 Butterfly (26.49) and 50 Freestyle (25.05). Gresset won the 50 Backstroke in 29.09. There were no team scores kept at the NWC Pentathlon. Click here for complete results of the meet. |
