Erickson, a junior from Austin, Texas, is a theology major with a 3.97 GPA. She was a 2007 Northwest Conference champion in the 200-yard Individual Medley and finished second in the 200 Backstroke and fourth in the 200 Breaststroke. She was also part of four Whitworth relays that won NWC titles this spring. She holds the Whitworth Aquatic Center record for the 200 Back (2:08.82), which she set as a freshman. Erickson has graduated after only three years of academic work.

Dolphay, a junior from Great Falls, Montana, is a history major with a 3.61 GPA. He earned NWC Swimmer of the Year honors in 2007 (his second year in a row) after sweeping to victory in the 200, 500 and 1,650-yard Freestyles. He was a national qualifier and participant in all three of his events.

Dolphay was joined on the ten-member men's team by Pirate golfers Steven Johnson and Sean Thompson (see related release).

The ESPN The Magazine Men's and Women's Academic All-District VIII At-Large College Division teams included ten individuals selected from sports without their own specific Academic All-District teams, including swimming, tennis, water polo, gymnastics, golf, wrestling and skiing. The individuals are nominated by their institutions' sports information directors and the 10 selections are made by a subsequent vote of district SIDs. District VIII in the college divisions comprises all non-NCAA Division I institutions west of the Rocky Mountains.

This year marks the 56th year of the Academic All-America program. Over 15,000 students have been named Academic All-America team members at colleges and universities at all levels for every recognized NCAA sport.
