Whitworth Men and Women Cruise Past PLU

TACOMA, Wash. -- Whitworth's men's swimming team won 10 of 11 events to roll past Pacific Lutheran 141.5-58.5 on Friday night. The Pirate women were nearly as dominant, winning 8 of 11 races for a 126-72 victory over the Lutes.

Dolphay's 1,000 time is an NWC best in 06-07

David Dolphay continued his winning ways for the Whitworth men. His winning time of 9:58.30 is the fastest in the Northwest Conference this season, while his winning time of 4:24.46 is the third fastest in the NWC.

Bryan Clarke also won twice for Whitworth, taking the 50 Free (22.86) and 100 Breaststroke (1:00.88). He was also part of the winning 200 Medley Relay with Tom Radtke, Josh McDowell and Scott Adams. Radtke went on to win the 200 Free (1:53.09) and McDowell won the 100 Butterfly (54.30). Kris Asleson won the 100 Free (50.78), while Luke Stocker won the 100 Backstroke (58.07). Both were also on the winning 200 Free Relay.

Samantha Kephart was Whitworth's only two-time individual winner on the women's side. She won both the 100 Butterfly (58.49) and the 500 Free (5:20.20). She also swam on the winning 200 Medley Relay with Brittany Gresset, Katelyn Erickson and Natalie Turner. Turner won the 200 Free in 1:56.54, while Gresset won the 50 Free in 24.97. Erickson was the winner in the 100 Breaststroke (1:11.56). Rebekah List also won for the Pirate women, taking the 400 I.M. in 4:59.93.

Whitworth will stay in Tacoma to take on Puget Sound in a dual meet Saturday afternoon. The UPS men were the last NWC team to defeat Whitworth, 48 contests ago. The Logger women have never lost a conference dual meet or championship meet since joining the NWC ten seasons ago.
