SPOKANE, Wash. -- The Seattle University men's swimming team won 10 of the 11 events to roll to a 150-53 victory over Whitworth College in a non-conference dual meet on Friday night at the Whitworth Aquatic Center. The Pirate women won six of the 11 events, but the Redhawk depth proved too much to overcome as Seattle's women also won 120-85. Bryson Chiu won the 100 Back (55.97), and led off the winning 200 Medley Relay (1:38.01) to lead the Redhawks to victory in the men's race. Doug Djang was the winner in the 200 I.M. (1:58.14) and 100 Breaststroke (59.25). Bryant Beavers won the 50 Free (22.16), was second in the 100 Free (48.58), and led off the winning 200 Free Relay (1:28.48). Whitworth's only winner was David Dolphay, who won the 500 Free in 4:50.08. Natalie Turner and Brittany Gresset each won a pair of events for the Pirate women. Turner won both the 1,000 (10:43.93) and 500 (5:13.46) Freestyles, while Gresset sprinted to wins in the 50 (24.53) and 100 (53.86) Freestyles. Samantha Kephart won the 200 Free (1:58.01) and the Whitworth women won the 200 Free Relay (1:40.19). Kristie Rice won both the 200 I.M. (2:13.99) and 100 Breaststroke (1:10.51) to lead Seattle's women. Fran Reale won the 100 Back (1:02.40) and led off the winning 200 Medley Relay (1:52.72). Lindsey Gall took the 100 Fly (58.58), just edging Whitworth's Kephart (59.07). Whitworth returns to the poll Saturday afternoon with a Northwest Conference dual meet at Whitman College. |
