WALLA WALLA , Wash. -- Whitworth's men and women bounced back from non-conference dual meet losses with Northwest Conference dual wins over Whitman on Saturday afternoon. The Pirate women won 127-74, while the Whitworth men won 129-71. Brittany Gresset, Katelyn Erickson, Samantha Kephart and Natalie Turner opened the meet with a blistering win in the 400 Medley Relay with a time of 4:06.94. The four then went on to win seven individual events. Erickson won both the 1,650 Free (18:43.48) and 200 Breaststroke (2:33.85). Turner won both the 400 I.M. (4:48.26) and 100 Freestyle (54.17). Kephart was victorious in both the 200 Butterfly (2:09.88) and 500 Freestyle (5:27.55). Gresset added a win in the 50 Freestyle (24.96). Ashley Scroggy added a win in the 200 Freestyle (2:04.62) for the Bucs, who won nine of the 11 events. The Whitworth men won eight of the 11 events, including both relays. The Pirates opened the meet with a win in the 400 Medley Relay (3:43.05) and closed it with a win in the 400 Free Relay (3:28.22). In between, six different Pirates won individual events. Nathan Newberg won the 1,650 Free (17:55.74), David Dolphay won the 200 Free (1:49.75), Josh McDowell won the 200 Fly (2:06.01), Bryan Clarke won the 100 Free (50.37), Luke Stocker won the 200 Back (2:03.66) and Kris Asleson won the 200 Breaststroke (2:24.72). The Pirates return to meet action next Friday when the Bucs host Willamette University at 6:00 pm. |
